CLASS OF 59 vs CLASS OF 58

PCT 1 COMMISSIONER(Dem.)

Herb Schulze Age: 63
Residence: Lockhart
Occupation: Retired/Pct Commissioner

Experience: Served in public schools 34 years overall, 22 as an administrator; principal at Lockhart Junior High for 17 years; Pct. 1 commissioner since 2001.

If elected: One of our responsibilities is to maintain a balanced budget and to do that, you have to take into account all the things you can and can't do. That's the biggest job we have - to stay within the budget without increasing taxes - and that's what I will continue to do when I'm reelected.

PCT 1 COMMISSIONER (Rep.)

Dan Nolte Age: 64
Residence: Lockhart
Occupation: Rancher

Experience: As H-E-B meat supervisor for 21 years oversaw operations for over two dozen regional stores; 13 years in sales with Fleming Foods; consultant for major food chains IGA and Super K-mart.

If elected: I'm not accepting donations for this campaign at this time. It's time we make a change in county government, and my goals are to have accountability for how tax dollars are spent, balance the budget and collect delinquent taxes, improve roads and increase pay for county employees on a merit basis. I want to bring professionalism and integrity to our county government. A vote for me is vote for the future of Caldwell County.

Gene and Doris New and Pasco's family are very appreciative of the Top Ten Scholarship donations that have been made in memory of Pasco Martin. They feel that Pasco would be very proud of this tribute.

Top 10 Scholarship donations in memory of or in honor of individuals can be made by sending a check in any amount to Lockhart High School, #1 Lion Country Drive, Lockhart, Texas 78644.

I have a list of folks I know......all written in a book, and every now and then......I go and take a look. That is when I realize these names......they are a part, not of the book they're written in......but taken from the heart. For each name stands for someone......who has crossed my path sometime, and in that meeting they have become......the reason and the rhyme. Although it sounds fantastic......for me to make this claim, I really am composed......of each remembered name. Although you're not aware......of any special link, just knowing you, has shaped my life......more than you could think. So please don't think my greeting......as just a mere routine, your name was not......forgotten in between. For when I send a greeting......that is addressed to you, it is because you're on the list......of folks I'm indebted to. So whether I have known you......for many days or few, in some ways you have a part......in shaping things I do. I am but a total......of many folks I've met, you are a friend I would prefer......never to forget. Thank you for being my friend !!
