ALBERT (Pete) Schulze Class of 1953

Born December 31, 1933 Caldwell County, Texas

Died December 20, 2007 Austin, Texas

A H "Pete" Schulze, 73, of Lockhart, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007. He was born in Niederwald, Texas on Dec. 31, 1933 to Richard and Olivia (Hauptrief) Schulze.

He co-owned Alex and Schulze Garage in Lockhart and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Olivia Schulze; one brother David Schulze; and two sisters, Bertha Clifton and Gladys Schulze. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jo Nell whom he married Aug. 28, 1953 in Lockhart; two sons, Terry Schulze of Lockhart, and Ronny Schulze and wife, Melinda of Lockhart; one daughter, Darla Law and husband, Daniel of Lockhart; five sisters, Annie Cominotto of Austin, Augusta Swilley of Brooksville, Fla., Katie Vocke of San Antonio, Mertha Bailey of Lockhart, and Mary Canino of Tyler; two brothers, Richard Schulze of San Antonio and Herbert Schulze of Lockhart; six grandchildren Michael Schulze, D'Lacy Watts, Jason Schulze, Lauren Law, Brittney Law and Justin Law; and three great-grandchildren Dustin Schulze, Summer Glass and Madelyn Schulze.

Serving as pallbearers were his nephews, Johnny Schulze, Richard Bailey, Billy Bailey, Dante Cominotto, Robert Clifton and David Clifton. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Schulze, Leslie Wayne Vocke, Michael Vocke and Randy Schulze.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007 at First Lockhart Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Rodgers officiating. Interment followed at Lockhart City Cemetery, Lockhart, Texas.

LOIS (HUTCHESON) SEITZ Class of 1953

Born June 17, 1935 Caldwell County, Texas
Died July 23, 2004 Austin, Texas

Mrs. Lois Louise "Lulu" Seitz, 70, of Lockhart died July 23, 2004 in Austin. Mrs. Seitz was born June 17, 1934 in Caldwell County to Amos and Lillie J. Stephens Hutcheson. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Lockhart. She was united in marriage to Billy Joe Seitz, November 19, 1954 in Lockhart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Billy Dean Seitz, and her brother, Billy Hutcheson.

Visitation was held July 26 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. July 27, in the Chapel of the Eeds Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating. Interment followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.

Serving as pallbearers were Brian Hutcheson, Terry McMullen, Dennis Zimmerhanzel, Thomas Halliburton, Pete Reyes, and Kenneth Schawe.

Mrs. Seitz is survived by children, Sherrie Haddock of Austin and Ricky J. Seitz of Lockhart. Brother, James O. Hutcheson of Lockhart and sister, Ann Zimmerhanzel of Giddings. One grandson, Travis C. Haddock of Austin also survives. Her loving pet, Sissy, also survives.

TOM VANN Class of 1953

Born September 21, 1935 Lockhart, Texas
Died September 12, 2003, Abiline, Texas

Tom Vann, 67, of Big Spring, passed away on Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene following a long illness. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Memorial Park.

Mr. Vann was born on Sept. 21, 1935, in Lockhart. He moved to Big Spring from Stanton in 1986. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Lutheran faith.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Vann of Big Spring; six daughters, Ronnie Epley of Big Spring, Nancy Denman of Abilene, Meg Atchison of Monahans, Julie Vann of Beeville, Leslie Stevens of Big Spring and Angela Patterson of Big Spring; one sister, Janice Thorp of Beeville; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandson.

CHARLIE PITTMAN Class of 1953

Died October 12, 2000, Victoria, Texas

Charlie Dean Pittman, 65, of Palacios, Texas died October 12, 2000 in Victoria, Texas. He was born December 11, 1934 in Lockhart, Texas to the late Lenford C. and Lillie Mae Harris Pittman. Mr. Pittman was a resident of Matagorda Co. the past 34 years, and a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include wife, Peggy Pittman of Palacios; daughters and son-in-law, Peggy Jaunice "Sissy" and Brett Taylor of San Marcos, Karen Pittman of Mt. Belvieu, Texas; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles Luther and Rhonda Pittman of Pledger, Texas, Richard "Rick" Pittman of Baytown, Texas; brothers, Austin and Lonnie Pittman both of Lockhart; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Kristy and Richard Daugherty all of Baytown, Nicholas Pittman of Fairchild, Kaci Taylor of San Marcos, Roxanne Pittman of Pledger and Trish of Las Vegas, NY. He was preceded in death by his sister Lola Mae Reisinger.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 15, at 2 pm, at the First Presbyterian Church of Palacios with Rev. Sam Starks and Reverends Andy and Janell Blair officiating. Interment followed at Palacios Cemetery.


GLYNN RECTOR Class of 1953

Born: December 29, 1934 Lockhart, Texas
Died: April 29, 1999 Lockhart, Texas

Glynn Rector was taken to his heavenly home on April 29, 1999 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Glynn Rector was born to Walter and Sadie Rector on December 29, 1934 in Lockhart, Texas. Glynn spent his life helping others through his work in retail stores (Duke & Ayers, Winn's and Michaels) and through his dedicated service in the churches he attended. He genuinely loved people and his God and was known for his caring attitude and helpful advice.

Glynn was faithful to God throughout his life and touched many lives through his service as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Music Leader and Training Union Director in several Baptist churches throughout Texas. His walk with God was an inspiration to many of us.

He was married to his lifelong companion and wife, Mary Frances Kuhen, in 1957 in Gonzales, Texas and lived in Kerrville, El Paso, Devine, Bastrop, and Buda, Texas.

Glynn died a rich man.

SHIRLEY ANN PARR Class of 1953

Born: 1935 McAllen, Texas
Died: March 8, 1994 Lockhart, Texas

Shirley Ann Parr Powell passed away at her residence on Tuesday, March 8, 1994. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11 at the First Methodist Church of Shreveport.

She is survived by her husband, Edward G. Powell; three children, Ed- ward Graham Powell Jr., Paige Elizabeth Powell, and Caroline Parr Powell, together with her mother, Ruth Bunker Parr of Lockhart; sister, Beverly Parr Annas of Lockhart; two nieces, Courtney Elizabeth and Adrienne Leigh Annas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Kirky Parr.

A resident of Shreveport since 1969, Mrs. Powell was born in McAllen in 1935. She graduated from Lockhart High School in 1953, where she served as cheerleader and vice-president of the Student Council. She was Class Favorite and was named Best Actress in District One-Act play. She was a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was married in Lockhart to Edward Powell of Bedford, Va. in 1956 at the First United Methodist Church. Following her graduation she taught at Allen Junior High School in Austin. Subsequently Mrs. Powell was instrumental in establishing the Head Start Program in Texas, working closely with Sargent Shriver and President Lyndon B. Johnson.

She was active in community affairs in Shreveport having served on the board of directors of the Salvation Army, and as chairman of the Southfield Book Fair. She was treasurer of the Shreveport Opera Guild for ten years, and served as chairman and treasurer of Les Boutiques des Noel. She received the Eugenie Somdal Award for service to Shreveport Opera Guild. She also devoted many hours as a volunteer at the Alternate View Network and Easter Seal Telethon.

Honorary pallbearers are Robert U. Goodman, Walter Watts, Bob Griffin, Dr. Tom Worgul, Sean Ryan and Del Pumphre.

The family requests that memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church or the Alernate View Network.
